No single event entry?

We can’t afford to take a whole week off or buy tags for just a single evening. Is there any option to go to a day’s worth of events?

Nevermind, I see that it is not possible. It’s a bit unfortunate that this event is only really available to folks privileged enough to take a week off and spend 250+ on a bunch of parties, but I understand logistics are hard. Hope you all change your mind in the future.

Hi Mora,

Thanks for reaching out and sharing your perspective. I understand your frustration, and I appreciate the chance to clarify a few things.

Lazy Bear Week is produced by the Lazy Bear Fund, a volunteer-run 501(c)(3) nonprofit. Proceeds from the event go directly toward our community grant program, which supports LGBTQIA+ nonprofits and health organizations. We work hard to balance accessibility with the resources needed to host a safe, fun, and community-centered event.

For folks who are unable to purchase a tag, we do offer a volunteer program. Completing just 8 hours of volunteer work earns a full week tag, and many people choose that path to be part of the experience.

In the past, we did experiment with day passes. Unfortunately, it led to overcrowding on certain days, long wait times, and — in some cases — unsafe conditions for guests and locals alike. After much consideration, we shifted to a full-tag model to better manage capacity, safety, and the quality of experience for everyone.

That said, we’re always evolving and taking feedback seriously as we plan for the future — especially as we look ahead to our 30th Anniversary in 2026. We hope you’ll consider volunteering next time or reaching out to get involved in other ways. Your voice is heard and valued.

You forgot to mention that you guys do offer passes to those who qualify for free if they fill out an application. I was upset too when I heard that there were no daily passes anymore as I really enjoyed, as a local, to just go for a day or two, but I think overall the Lazy Bear Fund is beneficial for local business, and for charities in need of dire funds, and like you said, there are options for those who cannot afford it. So, for those who were planning to go, best thing to do is to reach out in advance and see if they can volunteer or apply for a tag. I think that is reasonable.

Thanks mikel

we did offer tags to those who expressed hardship in 2024. despite many requests, we had zero applicants. note: we are not offering the same thing for 2025.

Ah. I see. Well, at least there is volunteering, so there is still an option. Perhaps in the future there can be a one day pass for a Sunday or a Saturday, as long as is safe for everyone. That woud be a good idea, at least to do it for us, the locals, but then again, I don’t see behind the scenes so I don’t know exactly how much work it takes to put all of this together-which I assume is monumental. Anyways, I will see you guys on Thursday to pick up my tags.
